The Dominant By Tara Sue Me ~ Review By Romina

5*
Nathaniel West doesn’t lose control.
As CEO Of West Industries he dominates in the boardroom as well as the bedroom.
He has never taken on an inexperienced submissive, the training involved is too time consuming.
That is until an application from Abigail King lands on his desk.
One look at her name on the file and memories begin to flood his mind. All those times he’d wished to be near her, to speak to her. Just to have her notice him.
Here was his chance. How could he not accept?
Will she remember him from all those years ago?
Could he make this work?
Will Abigail’s innocence and willingness to learn teach him how to love?
This is the second book in a captivating trilogy, where the first book focused on Abby’s side of the story this one delivers Nathaniel’s point of view.
As I reviewed book 1 ‘The Submissive’ not too long ago I’ll try not to repeat myself too much.
More often than not in books of this genre we read from the female perspective. To be able to understand both sides to this story is both wonderful and refreshing.
Nathaniel’s character is I suppose what I envision a Dominant to be. He is written perfectly.
The reader gets an insight into the emotional turmoil he goes through, trying to keep his unconventional lifestyle separate from how he truly feels about Abby.
This struggle sometimes became very emotional to read.
Every part of this story had me completely drawn in. I became so lost in it I almost felt like he was narrating it rather than just me reading.
I hope that anyone that has found a new passion for this genre will read these books. They are truly not to be missed.  I honestly can’t wait to read the final part.

Daughter of the Red Dawn (The Lost Kingdom of Fallada) by Alicia Michaels - Review by Jane

3.5 Stars

A cross between Fairy Tale and Fantasy, Daughter of the Red Dawn is the first in what I assume will be a seven book series. There are seven lost daughters of Fallada and my thought is that there will be one book per girl. The first instalment takes us on a journey to reunite Selena, the Princess of Damu, with her homeland.

I have read many fantasy stories and unfortunately this one didn’t bring anything new to the table as far as plot is concerned. It followed the fantasy recipe I see all too often, and have mentioned before in my reviews of this genre. It seems that this formula is a requirement and I will just have to accept it, so I would at least like to be given something unique within the plot to allow it to stand out above the rest and give me something to guess at instead of the whole thing being totally predictable, as was this.

That being said I love the way this author writes, she has a comfortable and poetic way with words, which easily allows the reader to fall into the story, snuggle up and stay there until it’s over. As far as fantasy goes this is a very well written, visually dynamic, easy to follow book and I would love to read more by Alicia for her writing style alone, I would just like the story line to be more individual because that combined with her writing would prove to be an exciting read.

The Council of Immortals has sworn to protect the Arc, whom they have identified as young Ella Monroe, a college freshman from Virginia living quietly and unaware of her powers or her past. But a renegade Chorý has other plans for the protection of a girl he has loved through the ages. Can Kale convince Ella of who she is, what she is destined to become, and what he once meant to her? Is he truly the best protector to shield the world from the devastating misuse of her powers that Laurent is bent on controlling? Or will the forbidden love they share and Kale’s cursed condition as a wretched and hated Chorý be used against them both?

This paranormal romance told from the heroine’s perspective builds in intensity and intrigue to a finale you won’t see coming. Heart pounding action mixed with heartwarming friendships and heartbreaking romance will leave you breathless and begging for more.

Jumper by Jeff LaFerney - Review by Jane

4.5 Stars

Have you ever seen the film ‘Jumper’ directed by Doug Liman? If so this book will put you in mind of that film, Cole Flint’s abilities are remarkably similar to those of David Rice, the films MC. The story line however is nothing like it. We have Cole Flint our unwitting hero who is drawn into the role of protector when he discovers his unique ability to teleport and time travel, and Hannah Carpenter who for some reason is the only person who can remove the Staff of Moses from the rock in a ‘Sword in the Stone’ manner. Once the King of Jordan discovers the Staff on his land he wants it and all the power it holds. So with the aid of a motorcycle Cole teleports Hannah five years into the past to safety, and this is where the chapter headers become important to keep track of where and when you are while reading.

Time travel always messes with my head but I have to say this book is pretty well explained, and I didn’t feel nearly as confused as I normally do with this type of story! There were some points that had me wondering, for instance ….When Cole travelled back and changed his name plus the way his victims died, his family and the police remembered the ‘new’ past yet the reporters remembered the story they had originally posted.

The fact that certain people remembered certain pasts was briefly explained towards the end of the book, but it felt to me like an after thought to excuse why some people remembered while others didn’t. Another point that felt rushed to me was Cole’s parentage, it wasn’t covered much throughout the story and then suddenly we find out who his mum is, again it felt like it was thrown in there just to tie up loose ends an I was a little disappointed with those parts of the plot.

I have read a few of Jeff’s books, and this by far, is the most enjoyable for me. It had me staying up late to read and that hasn’t happened very often just lately. I found the writing comfortable and was easily able to live in the moment. The story was fast paced, and exciting throughout and I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exhilarating read.

For The Love Of Ireland By Judy Leslie ~ Review By Romina

3*
Margaret Sullivan is a journalist for The Chicago Tribune. Writing under an assumed name she is well respected. As long as nobody knows she is a woman that is.
Margaret is married to a powerful attorney name Alex. He himself has his own aspirations of climbing higher in political ranks.
Together they are a formidable force in 19th Century Chicago with connections inside the Irish Elite.
Margaret takes a trip to Ireland to research the country’s hardships for her upcoming novel.
What she encounters along the way will test her loyalties to her husband and shape her future more than she ever possibly imagined.
Set in the backdrop of Irish/British politics this book brings forth some of the lesser known aspects of the Irish plight for freedom in the 19th Century.
Margaret’s character is essential in allowing this story to work. Her ambition and strength along with her lust for an ambitious one armed rebel named Michael Davitt gave this story a much needed boost.
I am not what you would call an enthusiastic reader of political works but this book did cause me think more about why the Irish and British have been fighting for so long.
Based around fact with elements of fiction this book is well written with an exceptional descriptive to help the reader become more involved with the story.
Unfortunately it didn’t draw me into the political world as much as I hoped it would.

A Gentleman's Affair By A.J Linn ~ Review By Romina

5*
Donovan Hart is successful, handsome and smart. After the tragic death of his beloved mother he took over the running of the family hotel La Fuga from his heartbroken father and turned it into the best establishment in Malibu. At the age of 32 he has become tired of living the life as a playboy and has decided to search for his Unico Vero Amore. His one true love.
Can he leave his past behind and find the girl of his dreams?
After a few disastrous dates he meets Rebekah. She’s beautiful and seems perfect. Trouble is she lives hundreds of miles away. Can he make the long distance relationship work or is there someone a little closer to home that he seems to have overlooked?
Maybe it’s time to break a few of his own rules to find the one he’s meant to be with.
I have eagerly been waiting for this book for a while now and it didn’t disappoint.
I love that although Donovan is successful & handsome he has this playful side to him that is a delight to read. Definitely a loveable rogue.
In this story of his search for love Donovan chronicles some of his not so favourable dates. I must say they each had me in fits of giggles and had me almost shouting “No! Not her” at each and every one. It is easy to feel part of this story.
The inner monologue of his thoughts during these dates are a brilliant addition.
There is an element of fun written into the sex scenes which I felt were perfect for this character too. They definitely bring out his personality.
The surrounding characters in this story have their own special element to add. Each one necessary to making this book into the success I feel it is.
There are moments in this book that will bring tears to your eyes as well as laughter.
Donovan’s interaction with his father is touching and written beautifully so you feel the sensitivity of the scene.
Although this is a story about finding love, it is a fun, lighthearted story that many will enjoy.
The anticipation you feel for Donovan to find love is delightful to read.
A.J Linn is definitely an author to look out for in the future. I believe any future projects will be as successful as this.
